Running from his past, Devon one of the oldest living Vampires befriends a human while serving in the army during the civil war. Forced to Flee after their regiment is slaughtered the two nearly escape as Daniel is killed in the attack. Now grief struck, Devon's guilt pushes him to leave until he encounters Jonathan, the remaining son of a distillery owner who has secrets of his own. Losing his brother in the war, and coping with an absent alcoholic father, the two outcasts set out to rediscover their place in the world and to find closure from those they have left behind.
